Create Your Own ePortfolio

  • Jul. 22nd, 2008 at 9:47 PM

To participate in the ePortfolio project you will need to create a “blog.” Blog is short for “web-log.” Maybe you already have one, but for the purposes of this class, I would like everyone to create a new blog through livejournal.com

If you look near the top of this window you will see a link to "Create a LiveJournal Account." This will open a new screen with very simple step-by-step instructions. This blog will be used as your PROFESSIONAL ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO.  As such, is it imperative that the name look professional.  I would ask that you use your last name followed by the word "ePortfolio" as the name of this blog (i.e; goreeportfolio .  If by some odd chance this user name is already taken, then you may try using your first and last name, or first initial and last name, Make a note of this username as you will use it in every class for the rest of your time in the TCC HIM program.

Your next screen is for you to enter more information to set-up your account. Please select either the Basic account, free account

Next you will have the option of entering in personal information. This is entirely optional and you do NOT have to fill any of it out. Please be aware that any information you enter here may be seen by other students in the class.

After you have set up your account feel free to play around and customize it, add your picture and pick a background that you like. But remember, this is not a regular blog.  you will be using this as your PROFESSIONAL ELECTRONCI PORTFOLIO.  You want to set a good impression.

You will want to go into Friends, and then "Manage Friends" and add me to your friends list. Just type in tcchim - I will be notified that you have added me, and then I can add you to my friends list.

Don't post any new entries yet, you will be given specific instructions on what I am looking for for this ePortfolio.

Now, if you want to also have a regular blog site that you can make postings to and share opinions on then please feel free to open a second site.  There is no limit to how many sites you can have.
